Tarnished Gold

Presenting (drum roll please)… EPIC FAIL!!!! Okay, so I admit it. The reason I posted (and didn’t plan on finishing) this piece of... 'art' [link] was because I’d already started a new version. And I’d hoped that somehow seeing that one first would miraculously make this version look decent… Har har.

Unfortunately, I DESTROYED his face. D: Yep, his. And some of you thought I WASN’T a shitty artist? Anyway, I was hoping to wait ‘til this was finished to post it, but since I’m already working on ANOTHER drawing of this weirdo that pretty much just needs an arm and details in order to be presentable (despite it being just as much fail as this one), I’m not so sure that will happen…

Character Profile: Asurendra (though he introduces himself as Asura Sae (or Sae Asura in Japan where he presently lives)) Sae Munk Passe. (The only Passe with 3 names aside from Passe, rather than 2. Ayame felt it appropriate to name the Demonic form that had taken up residence inside him, in hopes that Munk may come to terms with his ‘other personality’ better if it had seemed to be as welcome as a Passe as his Angelic side. Munk was born before the myth of the Asuras manifested itself (if my ongoing research is accurate ()) What can ya do? Ayame can’t predict EVERYTHING. )

‘Origin’/Species: Passe (Angel)/Incubus (in utero, an attack against Hanasaki caused a mutation, resulting in him being born an Angel with Demonic attributes (despite the attacker being the son of the Demon Incubus, and thus an Incubus himself, sex played no part in this. Axaia and Incubus are the only Demons capable of demonizing otherwise ‘ordinary’ men, which they do without sex). Munk typically looks rather normal (aside from being calico), but occasionally allows the dormant Demon side loose, made obvious by elongated ears, ‘claws’, slit pupils, and… *ahem* a tail (as pictured above).

Apparent race: Undeterminable.

Age: Immortal. 4,160.

Distinguishing characteristics: 6’6”, muscular. Has a medallion-like Angelic symbol on his chest and a smaller, secondary Angelic symbol (rare but not unheard of) on his forehead. Also has a rose-like tattoo on one shoulder, which he did himself using an ink with powdered gold galabor mixed in. He has fair skin with shimmering pale gold highlights, one red eye and one pinkish eye, both flecked in gold, and slightly pointed ears (which grow longer with the Demon side…ness). He is calico; his long hair is strawberry blonde with clumps of platinum blonde, bright gold, and stark white. He has six wings, two black and bat-like, representing the Demonic side, and four of them are feathered, deep red which gradates to black. These might have been gold if not for Axaia, one of the many things he despises his Demonic ‘ancestor’ for.
His clothing is significant to his role among humans; a Buddhist monk (the fancy crap is due to his rank… and typical Passe flair), Ayame made a VERY bad joke when he named him. He has been such for over 1,500 years, despite being an Angel of Heaven related to no known religion on earth. He started out in China and eventually migrated to Japan, and has been forced to fake many deaths in order to keep his immortality under wraps… His clothing is typically white and cranberry red with gold or red accents, but often worse for wear as he tends to be something of a ‘nomad’. He also possesses a ‘gold’ galabor mechanical right arm and leg, given to him by Ayame after he lost his during a battle with Axaia (see Pets). This procedure was performed after his having faked a death for that lifetime, so he typically hides them … (I saw this years ago ( [link] ), and it made me REALLY want to give a Passe mechanical prosthetics in gold for once. So I figured, who better than the Passe that ‘appears to be fashioned entirely out of rubies and gold’?)
I took a LOT of creative liberties with this design, and while I DID research some aspects of his design, I also broke a lot of rules, many of which were deliberate, and without remorse. I use my ‘94 years in the future’ excuse for this… ………Okay, I admit it. My REAL excuse is that I’m a detail whore.
Side note: Although irritable and in other ways similar to Aio, Munk is more predominantly known for acting like a total fucking SNOB.

Relevance: None yet. He was an extra in RPs that hadn’t even had a finalized and refined design yet (or a developed back story or personality), and, although he had a somewhat substantial potential scene in book 4, that may be scrapped and he’ll become a book extra as well… Even though watching him and Aio fight is SO much fun whether they’re wasted or not.

Other: Obviously goes by a different name when he’s ‘playing Human’; thanks to his unusual appearance, he’s believed to be a deity among his fellow monks (especially after what happened when they shaved his head). His Demon side, however, has been revealed only to a very SMALL handful of people, many of which die before they can tell anyone. His weapon of choice is one he’s been repeatedly accused of ‘using wrong’. He holds it backward like a knife, the reason for this is likely the length of his arms in Angel Form (as he is considerably taller in that form).
Munk has two ‘Passe abilities’, the first, which he refers to simply as ‘Kamikaze’, he didn’t discover until only a year ago. The other ability was also discovered by accident about 4 thousand years after he was born. He has only used it once, and its effects were devastating, despite having been said to have ‘turned out well’ for what COULD have happened.
Despite proclaiming himself to be homosexual whenever Aio chooses to accuse him of gay activities with his fellow monks (although certainly not professing the accusations as truths), he was in love with a woman who mysteriously vanished not long after they met. Since this woman’s disappearance, he has become a little bit eccentric, frequently experiencing unbearable hallucinations of her; this in turn has resulted in an intense hatred for almost any and all people which seems to come across as asexuality, despite his having ‘threatened’ numerous times to ‘resort to sluthood’. Unfortunate for him, despite Passes typically never having sex with anyone but their Soul Mate, as a half Demon, he is cursed to experience a more Human-like love life, while most Passes never know the pain of heartbreak, loss, and rejection when it comes to love.
He’s quite the carnivore, but also has a hell of a sweet tooth. His favorite food is honey… Until he experiences ‘manticore’ blood, that is. No… REALLY.

Pets: For the first couple thousand years of his life, Munk’s ‘Demon ancestor’ Axaia kept a close eye on what he deemed his son, and became known by means of folklore as a monster that lived in the mountains and would abduct children under cover of darkness. During some of his earliest years living among monks in China, Munk, knowing who the ‘monster’ really was, proclaimed that he would travel to the mountains and slay the beast and such. Several of his fellow monks practically begged him to let them accompany him, but he insisted on going alone; instead, they waited less than patiently for him at the foot of the mountain.
Axaia became one of the few to see Munk’s ‘Demon Form’, which was obviously taken on for the sole purpose of killing him; Munk accomplished this rather quickly. He did not come away unharmed, however, as the scars over his eyes indicate; only a few of many far more serious injuries he sustained. After waiting for him for three days, the accompanying monks ascended the mountain, and met him halfway, while he was teetering on his last ounce of strength. He was taken to the nearest village for medical attention, and the townsfolk as well as his companions were made thoroughly uneasy by the sight of a flock of buzzards that had gathered outside during the days of his recovery, as if waiting for him to die.
In fact, his condition had nothing to do with it; even after his making a full recovery (aside from missing his right arm below the elbow, and lower leg), buzzards seemed inexplicably attracted to him from that point forward, accumulating around him whenever he stops to rest, and circling him in the sky during his travels. This has caused a belief to circulate that the monster had cursed its slayer upon its death (Axaia was very liked by Buzzards himself, so it certainly had SOMETHING to do with it).
